Warrior – Part One: Daughterhood

About the Show

Three generations of a family are awaiting the imminent arrival of a visitor. A daughter, a sister, an aunt, who has been absent from their lives for over half a century, the impact of which has largely gone unspoken until tonight. Revelations are raw and recriminations are cast as the three women come to realise their own roles and relationships as daughters of this household. While no two women are the same, we all have one thing in common, we are all daughters.

Warrior Part One: Daughterhood examines the complexities we face as we try to forge an identity away from our matriarchs. It explores the legacy etched into our DNA and the subsequent need to reject the path that has been trodden before. But does the apple ever really fall far from the tree? Using a combination of music, text and movement, this debut piece for Rhubarb Triangle is the first instalment of The Warrior Trilogy; a concept originally exploring what it is to be a woman in today’s society and our relationships with each other.
