Miss Hope Springs – I’ve Been Around

About the Show

From Las Vegas to Dungeness, from The Ritz to the pits, self proclaimed ‘blonde bomb-site’ Miss Hope Springs returns with a show about her travels and travails over what must be by now (although she only admits to 39) almost a century in show business.

‘And it’s not the first time I’ve been locked up – I mean down,’ reveals Hope. ‘I could have gone stir crazy but it was an opportunity to reflect on the decades I’ve spent slaving over hot pianos in several continents, and some of the professions I’ve turned my hand to to make ends meet.’ So this time she’ll be stepping away from the ivories, stretching those floor to ceiling showgirl legs and, if you’re very lucky, demonstrating some of her extraordinary improvised interpretive dance moves. ‘When I auditioned for Martha Graham, she said she could not find words to describe my technique…Just saying’.v

There’ll be some newly penned chansons and a few firm favourites from Hope’s archive of vintage originals. With torrid tales of Hollywood casting couches, ‘Art Films’ in Berlin and scrubbing floors in a Shanghai brothel, you could certainly say Hope’s been around…
