James Pearson – 125 Years of Jazz Piano

About the Show

James Pearson is a pianist, composer, creative tour de force and Artistic Director at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club where his trio are the house band. His work covers all genres of music, especially contemporary music, jazz and classical.

James has broadcast on all the major radio and television networks. Classic F.M broadcast his concert of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto, and BBC Radio 2 broadcast his performance of the Gershwin Piano Concerto and Rhapsody in Blue. His work as a Jazz musician has taken him all over the world. This year The James Pearson Trio played a four night run in Birdland Jazz Club in New-York. His piano playing and arrangements can be heard on over 50 albums. Over each 80 minute performance James explores, with a deep sense of knowledge and history, the stories behind the evolution of jazz piano music from Ragtime to Stride; from Boogie Woogie to Big Band; from Be-Bop to Modal and much more. James will play all these styles capturing the essence of Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Art Tatum, George Shearing, Errol Garner, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson and more.
