Box Clever Theatre Company are returning to the Unicorn Theatre with their production of Shakespeare’s enduring and tragic tale of young love. It runs at the Unicorn Theatre from 29 April to 9 May.

Here the company give us five reasons to go…

1. Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy
One of the most regularly produced and re-made Shakespeare plays, Romeo and Juliet never loses its passion and heartbreak whether adapted for stage or screen. The theme of love and loss resonates as much with people today as it always has.

2. A unique adaptation
Box Clever’s reworking of the original Shakespeare text offers audience’s young and old a new opportunity to enjoy the original play, expertly interweaved with modern language.  The piece of physical theatre reimagines the story with the use of a dynamic set that sees the cast climb and hang off an impressive steel structure as they bring the tale back to life once again.

3. A stunning theatre company
Box Clever places original writing and production at the heart of everything they do.  Whether expertly reworking classic texts for young people or writing completely new material, they focus on their core audience and bring stories to life. Critically acclaimed for their production of Time for a Good Looking Boy and recognised in the industry as one of the leading theatre companies for young people, their productions are not to be missed.

4. Directed by one of the most exciting directors in the country
Iqbal Khan is one of countries hottest directors, working with leading touring companies across England including the Tricycle Theatre production of Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass starring Antony Sher. He has been brought together with an amazing production team to bring the story to life at the Unicorn.
