The Young Vic has announced its 2026/27 season, the second full programme under artistic director and CEO Nadia Fall, running from September 2026 to July 2027 across its Main House and Maria Studio.

The Main House programme opens with the world premiere of a new musical adaptation of Thelma & Louise, which we’ve covered here – alongside lead casting.

This is followed by Eurotrash, an English-language adaptation of the novel by Christian Kracht, adapted by Colin Teevanand directed by Walter Meierjohann. The production reunites Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter, and we’ve got more information here.

Tiago Rodrigues brings his play La Distance to the theatre from 22 January to 13 February 2027, performed in French with English surtitles, with Adama Diop and Alison Dechamps reprising their roles.

From 5 March to 24 April 2027, debbie tucker green will premiere her new play dissent, which she also directs. The show explores, to quote the venue, “humanity’s capacity for monstrous behaviour”.

The season concludes with Gem of the Ocean by August Wilson, directed by Fall, marking its first UK staging in 20 years, running from 14 May to 10 July 2027.

In the Maria Studio, the programme includes the London debut of Shedinburgh, transferring from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with performances from 19 September to 10 October 2026. The venue will host more than 40 shows from artists including Inua Ellams, Sara Pascoe, Bryony Kimmings and Rosie Jones.

Also in the Maria Studio, Ewa Dina directs Girls by Theresa Ikoko, running from 22 October to 21 November 2026. Set in Nigeria during the 2014 insurgency, the play follows three teenagers navigating captivity and survival.

Alongside the theatre programme, the venue will host a series of events. On 27 September 2026, Daisy Fancourt will discuss her book Art Cure in conversation with Hannah MacInnes in the Main House. On 14 October 2026, Ellams presents a special edition of his R.A.P. Party in the Maria Studio, responding to the work of the late multi-instrumentalist D’Angelo.

Further Maria Studio programming will be announced later in the year. The theatre will also continue its Creators’ Program and its partnership with the JMK Award, with applications for the next award opening in the autumn.
