Yard Theatre announces 2019 spring season

The Hackney venue has unveiled a variety of new work for the new year

The Yard Theatre's spring 2019 season has been announced.

Pecs Drag Kings, whose previous pieces include The 80s Show at Soho Theatre, will present new production Sex Sex Men Men from 26 February to 9 March. The show explores modern ideas of sexuality and masculinity.

The year will kick off with a five-week festival entitled NOW19, featuring 10 artists performing a variety of different work. Running from 15 January to 16 February, each week will feature two different companies presenting new work. The season will feature topics like time travel, failure, the myth of princess Diana and the repetitive afternoon of an Amish couple. Artists include Brian Lobel, Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment, FK Alexander, Greg Wohead, Last Yearz Interesting Negro and Rowdy SS, Seke Chimutengwende, Marikiscrycrycry, Tim Spooner and Tom Richards, Ira Brand and Peter McMaster.

The creative team behind the Yard's This Beautiful Future will also reassemble for a new show that runs for six weeks, with full details to be announced soon.

Lauren Barri Holstein and the Queen's Yard Company of 15 to 19 year-olds will create a new show entitled Really Real Teenz, about what happens when you take young people seriously. It runs from 11 to 14 March.
