Michael Fentiman's production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest will be broadcast live in cinemas later this year.

The production, which was awarded five stars by WhatsOnStage critic Alun Hood, will be beamed to cinemas on 9 October, live from the Vaudeville Theatre in the West End.

Starring Sophie Thompson, Fiona Button, Pippa Nixon, Stella Gonet and Jeremy Swift, Earnest is the fourth and final production in a year-long celebration of Oscar Wilde at the venue. The other shows in the season, which feature the likes of Edward Fox, Jennifer Saunders and Anne Reid, will also be broadcast in encore screenings across the coming months.

The piece will be seen at 440 cinemas across the UK and Ireland, with a list of cinema locations available here. The West End production will run until 20 October.
