The production is the first UK tour in the Gate’s 35-year history
Details have been announced for the forthcoming UK tour of the Gate Theatre's acclaimed production Grounded.
George Brant's one-woman play stars Lucy Ellinson as a fighter pilot who must come to terms with life on the ground when she becomes pregnant.
Directed by Gate artistic director Christopher Haydon, the tour marks the Gate's first in its 35-year history. It has been made possible by independent producer Beckie Darlington and is funded by Arts Council England.
Haydon said: "As a small pub theatre we rarely get the opportunity to share our work as widely as we would like and so this is the perfect way in which to bring the work of the Gate to the rest of the country."
Grounded opens at Birmingham REP from 4 to 6 September 2014, before visiting: Warwick Arts Centre; Clwyd Theatr Cymru; West Yorkshire Playhouse; Manchester Royal Exchange; The Capitol, Horsham; The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre, Bordon; Folkestone Quarterhouse; Canterbury Gulbenkian; The Point, Eastleigh; Fareham Ashcroft Arts Centre; Cranleigh Arts Centre; Brighton Dome Studio Theatre; The Place, Bedford; Banbury Mill Arts Centre; Colchester Arts Centre; The North Wall, Oxford; Crucible Studio Theatre, Sheffield; and Arnolfini (presented by Bristol Old Vic).
Further dates will be announced in February 2015. Grounded is also transferring to Gothenburg English Studio Theatre in Sweden for 15 performances from 15 to 25 September 2014.
