Following its premiere at the Hackney Empire last month, Tina Turner musical Soul Sister will transfer to the West End’s Savoy Theatre from 23 August 2012 (previews from 20 August).
The score includes “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, “Simply The Best”, “Proud Mary”, “Private Dancer”, “River Deep Mountain High”, “Respect”, “A Fool in Love”, “Honky Tonk Woman” and “Steamy Windows”.
The production stars Emi Wokoma (Hairspray) as Tina and Chris Tummings (The Harder they Come) as Ike.
Directed by Pete Brooks and Bob Eaton, Soul Sister features choreography and musical staging by Jason Pennycooke. The book was devised by John Miller and Pete Brooks.
Soul Sister, which is produced by Bill Kenwright and John Miller, follows the current revival of Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys starring Danny DeVito and Richard Griffiths at the Savoy. It’s initially booking until 29 September.
