Kiss of the Spider Woman is being revived for the first time in over 30 years and we’ve been offered an exclusive look at the costumes!

Co-produced by Curve, Bristol Old Vic and Mayflower Southampton, Paul Foster’s production, which received a glowing review from WhatsOnStage, will spend time at each venue.

At the heart of the cast is Anna-Jane Casey as Aurora, alongside stars Fabian Soto Pacheco as Molina, George Blagden as Valentin.

For those unfamiliar, the story follows two prisoners, Molina and Valentin, who form a bond while sharing a cell, with Molina recounting fantasies about a film star, Aurora, or the Spider Woman, as their relationship develops. It is based on the novel by Manuel Puig, with a stage adaptation by Terrence McNally. Kiss of the Spider Woman premiered on Broadway in 1993, where it won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

During a recent visit to Curve, Casey kindly took the time to show off some of the dazzling costumes she wears in the show. Designed by WhatsOnStage, Olivier and Tony Award winner Gabriella Slade, the costumes have been lovingly handmade from some of the finest fabrics.

You can watch the performer on set talking through three of her favourites:
