Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s play is currently running at the Arts Theatre in the West End
Ian Hislop and Nick Newman's play The Wipers Times is set for a UK tour following its West End opening last week.
The play follows a group of soldiers in Ypres during the First World War who find a printing press and produce a satirical newspaper from the trenches. The tour will open in Cardiff in September.
Private Eye editor Hislop and cartoonist Newman's story was originally a film broadcast by the BBC in 2013, and opened at The Watermill in Newbury last year.
At the West End opening at the Arts Theatre, Hislop described the play as the "authentic voice of the trenches".
Casting is yet to be announced.
It will tour to Cardiff (12 to 16 September), Oxford (18 to 23 September, Richmond (25 to 30 September), Southend-on-Sea (9 to 14 October), Guildford (16 to 21 October), Salisbury (23 to 28 October), Manchester (31 October to 4 November), Glasgow 7 to 11 November) and Cheltenham (13 and 18 November).
