Exclusive: The Mill at Sonning has announced its in-house programme for 2026, running from February through to January 2027.
The year follows the previously announced production of Michael Cooney’s Cash on Delivery, which runs from 5 February to 4 April.
The next production is the world stage premiere of Jack & Sarah, adapted by Duncan Abel from the 1995 film starring Richard E Grant and Dame Judi Dench. The production runs from 23 April to 14 June and is directed by Abigail Pickard Price. The creative team includes Mark Dymock as lighting designer, Terry Parsons as set designer, Ella Wahlstrom providing sound and composition, Amy Lawrence as movement director and Andrew Lynford as casting director. Casting is yet to be announced.
From 25 June to 15 August, the theatre will stage Paul Pörtner’s interactive comedy Shear Madness, directed by Artistic Director Sally Hughes. First performed in Germany in 1963, the play has since enjoyed long-running productions internationally, including extended runs in Boston and Washington, DC. The Mill’s production invites audiences to participate in the investigation of a murder that takes place in a hair salon, with the outcome shaped by audience involvement. Further casting and creative team details are to be confirmed.
Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d follows from 4 September to 31 October, adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff. The play centres on Miss Marple as she investigates a death following a gathering at Gossington Hall, uncovering secrets within the village of St Mary Mead. Casting and creative team details will be announced at a later date.
The 2026 season concludes with Anything Goes, which runs from 19 November 2026 to 17 January 2027. Featuring music and lyrics by Cole Porter and a revised book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman, the musical follows the events aboard the S.S. American and includes well-known songs from the score. Casting and creative team details are yet to be revealed.
