Spirit of the Dance is another monster smash hit show featuring at its heart Irish dancing. It has been a global success, having played over fifteen countries and been seen by over thirty million people and the current touring cast are a talented bunch, who will introduce a new audience to the show.
The production, which runs for two hours including the interval, moves at a cracking pace, with the cast presenting dancing styles from around the world, including Scottish, Flamenco and Salsa.
While the dancing is second to none, the recorded music is over amplified and very loud which does detract from the dancers. This also affects the few songs contained in the production as they do not sound natural.
The production is presented on a bare stage with four steps at the back, thereby ensuring you watch the dancers and there are no gimmicks, just dancing of the highest calibre.
Ironically though, it is actually a routine where the dancers are sitting down with their legs over the front of the stage that stops the show. At the end of the “Fosse Follies” section the cast perform a routine where their arms and hands perform all the action, which has to be seen to be believed.
Spirit of the Dance is a show for all the family and will no doubt continue to delight audiences for some time to come.
