Sheridan Smith has made a triumphant return to Funny Girl at the Savoy Theatre, having been on a leave of absence since May.

A statement released by producers Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Scott Landis said: "We are delighted to welcome Sheridan Smith back to Funny Girl this evening.

Smith is also scheduled to play this Saturday evening (not matinee), and Monday to Saturday next week, excluding the Wednesday matinee and Thursday evening performances.

From the week commencing 18 July, she will then perform Tuesday through Saturday.

Natasha Barnes will continue to play Fanny Brice on the other performances.
