The ballets are reimagined at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has revealed the full cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Dream Ballets: A Triple Bill.

For the production, choreographers Julia Cheng, Shelley Maxwell and Kate Prince have re-imagined the dream ballets from AllegroOklahoma! and Carousel. It is part of Drew McOnie’s first season as artistic director.

The creative team includes Simon Hale (orchestration and arrangements), Joshie Harriette (lighting designer), Nick Lidster (sound designer), Alex Parker (musical supervisor and conductor), Yann Seabra (costume designer) and the Sinfonia Smith Square as the orchestra.

Cheng’s take on Allegro will feature dancers Asmara Cammock, Jonadette Carpio, Paris Crossley, Jevan Howard-Jones, Hannah Joseph and Stuart Thomas.

For Oklahoma!, choreographed by Maxwell, the dancers are Tanisha Addicott, Chris Akrill, José Alves Tania Dimbelo, Nahum McLean and Vanessa Vince-Pang.

In Prince’s Carousel, the dancers include Deavion Brown, Tommy Franzen, Nethra Menon, Hannah Sandilands, Elijah Smith and Malachi Welch.

McOnie commented: “I am thrilled to be welcoming three outstanding groups of dancers to Regent’s Park for what will be a unique celebration of dance and music. I can’t wait to see how they and Shelley Maxwell, Julia Cheng and Kate Prince reimagine these timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein’s dream ballets for audiences at the Open Air Theatre.”

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Dream Ballets: A Triple Bill runs from 19 to 22 June 2025.

It follows the UK premiere of Shucked and will be followed by revivals of Noughts and Crosses and Brigadoon, and The Enormous Crocodile.
