Revival of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in Theatr Clwyd's new season

Tamara Harvey has announced the summer and autumn seasons at Theatr Clywd, which will feature four premieres and a major revival.

Jim Cartwright's 1992 musical The Rise and Fall of Little Voice will open at the theatre in October. Directed by Kate Wasserberg, the musical is about a shy young woman who turns out to have a beautiful singing voice. The last major production of the musical ran at the Union Theatre in June 2016. It will run at Theatr Clwyd from 5 to 28 October.

Paines Plough will take their pop-up Roundabout theatre to the venue with three of their previously announced world premieres.Elinor Cook's Out of Love, a comedy about a female friendship, will run from 24 June to 22 July. Brad Birch's psychological thriller Black Mountain will run from 8 to 21 July, and Sarah McDonald-Hughes' How to be a Kid, which is about a young carer, runs from 24 June to 22 July. All three productions will be directed by James Grieve.

As previously announced, Tamara Harvey will direct the world premiere of Peter Gill's adaptation of Uncle Vanya. Chekhov’s comic tragedy about people going crazy will be performed in the round, and head to the Sheffield Crucible after its run in Wales. It will run in Wales from 21 September to 14 October.

The world premiere of Hijinx theatre company's BoHo will run from 22 to 24 June. Directed and composed by Hannah Noone, who was an assistant director on Much Ado About Nothing and Pilgrims, the piece is a dystopian musical misadventure.
