Attenborough started as artistic director in 2002, and productions that he has directed during his tenure have included King Lear, Filumena, Reasons To Be Pretty, Through A Glass Darkly, Measure for Measure, When the Rain Stops Falling, In a Dark Dark House, and The Homecoming. The final production in his final season will be Lucy Kirkwood‘s Chimerica, which opens next month.
He will be succeeded by Headlong’s Rupert Goold in the Autumn.
