New Alain Boublil musical staged as work-in-progress at Other Palace

Alain Boublil's new musical Manhattan Parisienne is to get a work-in-progress showing at The Other Palace.

The show will have public sharings between 10 and 21 October this year and runs as part of the theatre's work-in-progress season.

Boublil's new work follows two struggling artists – a French singer and actress and a Manhattan musician – as they embark on a journey through New York. Excerpts from songs by Jacques Brel, George and Ira Gershwin and Michel Legrand are included in the piece.

Manhattan Parisienne originally opened at 59E59 Theaters in New York. Marie Zamora, who played Eve originally, is to reprise her role here.

Boublil said: "I was amazed to discover how perfect a setting The Studio was for Manhattan Parisienne. Exactly what I’d dreamed of. I am beyond thrilled that things have come together now so that Robert Mackintosh and The Other Palace, along with myself, can present a new development of the show".

Lyricist Boublil's work includes shows such as Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre and many more. Other shows included in the work-in-progress season include Heathers and Bonnie and Clyde.

Manhattan Parisienne runs between 10 October and 21 October at various times.
