A little bit of Oz at Worthy Farm!
Rejoicify! There was a Wicked celebration at Glastonbury!
This year’s festival featured headline performances from The 1975, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, and Olivia Rodrigo, as well as surprise sets from Pulp, Haim, Skepta, Lorde, and many more.
Among the thousands of acts across hundreds of stages was WhatsOnStage Award winner, Lucie Jones and her live band. Drawing from musical theatre and other materials, she performed across three nights in the 3,000 capacity Astrolabe venue. Surprisingly, the sets marked the first musical theatre representation at the festival despite having a theatre and circus area.
At one of these performances, she was joined on stage by Sam Ryder to perform “For Good” from Wicked. Jones, a former West End Elphaba, sang those parts of the duet, with Ryder as her Glinda. This is the second time the two have performed the number publicly, following a guest appearance at Jones’ Cadogan Hall concert.
Next up, Jones will lead the upcoming musical adaptation of 13 Going On 30, set to open at Manchester Opera House later this year.
