King’s Head Theatre pantomime announces initial casting for 2026

Dick Whittington and His Cat is set to run at King’s Head Theatre this Christmas, with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK stars Victoria Scone and River Medway leading the cast.

Scone will return to the theatre as Dragpus, having appeared as Dame Trott in last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, while Medway will make her King’s Head Theatre debut as Queen Rat.

The production will run from 22 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, with a press performance on 29 November. A separate adults-only version, Dick Whittington: Adults Only, will run from 26 November 2026 to 2 January 2027, with a press performance on 27 November.

Andrew Pollard will write and direct the production for a third consecutive year, following Cinderella in 2024 and Jack and the Beanstalk in 2025. Pollard was named Best Writer at the 2026 UK Pantomime Awards.

The creative team includes Nicky Bunch as set and costume designer, George W Parris as musical supervisor and musical director, Alex Lewer as lighting designer and Anna Smart as sound designer. General management is by James Quaife for Luminous Entertainment Group.

Scone competed on the third series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK before appearing on Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs The World, while Medway also appeared on the third series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. She recently played Jem in the UK and Ireland tour of Here and Now: The Steps Musical, having originated the role in its world premiere at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham.

The King’s Head will also continue its Golden Bells Pay It Forward scheme, which raises funds to provide free pantomime tickets to local children. The theatre is continuing its partnership with the Mayor of Islington’s 11 by 11 scheme, which aims to give every child at least 11 free cultural activities by the age of 11.

More than 2,250 schoolchildren have attended King’s Head Theatre for free over the past two years. For Cinderella, the theatre raised £4,820 for free school tickets, allowing 855 schoolchildren to attend. In total, 1,405 tickets were distributed through schools, charities and community partners. Both productions will also have Pay What You Can performances, with tickets available from £15 throughout the runs. Further reduced-price tickets are available through the KHT Artists Club, Under 35s Membership and N1 Membership.
