WhatsOnStage Awards nominee Craig Adams’ adaptation of Émile Zola’s classic novel will run for four weeks from 25 March
Julie Atherton will lead the cast of Craig Adams' musical adaptation of Thérèse Raquin, which plays for a four week run at the Finborough Theatre from 27 March 2014 (previews from 25 March).
The show's run comes as part of the venue's Celebrating British Music Theatre series following a sell-out workshop as part of Vibrant 2012 – A Festival of Finborough Playwrights.
Based on Émile Zola's 1868 novel, Thérèse Raquin tells the story of a young woman trapped in a loveless marriage to her cousin Camille, who enters into a passionate affair with his friend Laurent.
Julie Atherton, who plays Thérèse, has stage credits including LIFT (Soho Theatre), Sister Act (UK Tour), The Hired Man (Mercury Theatre, Colchester), Cinderella (Lyric Hammersmith), Avenue Q (Noël Coward Theatre), Mamma Mia! (Prince Edward Theatre), Ordinary Days (Finborough Theatre/Trafalgar Studios), The Last Five Years (Duchess Theatre) and Fame (Aldwych Theatre). She has released two solo albums, A Girl of Few Words and No Space For Air.
Atherton is joined in the cast by Lila Clements (Golden Hearts, Dick Whittington, The Kissing Dance), Claire Greenway (James and the Giant Peach, Sister Act), Tara Hugo (Legacy Falls, La Cage Aux Folles), Jeremy Legat (Peter Pan, Wicked), Ben Lewis (Candide, Love Never Dies, A Little Night Music), Gary Tushaw (The Mousetrap, Les Misérables), Verity Quade (Sister Act, Strictly Gershwin) and Matt Wilman (Candide, Blood Wedding).
Directed by Nona Shepphard, Thérèse Raquin features music by Craig Adams with a book and lyrics by Shepphard. It runs at the Finborough Theatre from 27 March to 19 April 2014 (previews from 25 March).
