Joan Armatrading musical to have world premiere at the National Theatre

A new musical titled Glorious Madness featuring the songs of Joan Armatrading has been announced as part of the National Theatre’s upcoming line-up.

The production incorporates the music and lyrics of Armatrading to tell a new love story written by playwright Iman Qureshi.

Phyllida Lloyd will direct the stage show, which is presented as a co-production with KPPL Productions next spring.

Armatrading’s catalogue includes three Grammy Award nominations and an Ivor Novello Award, alongside a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
