Jersey Boys, which recently transferred to the West End's Piccadilly Theatre after six years at the Prince Edward, has extended booking to 15 February 2015.

Essex-born Michael Watson will be taking over the lead role of Frankie Valli in the Tony, Olivier and WhatsOnStage Award-winning show from tonight (29 April 2014).

Watson's previous West End credits include We Will Rock You, Imagine This, Sister Act and Shrek the Musical.

He will be appearing alongside Edd Post as Bob Gaudio, Jon Boydon as Tommy DeVito and Matt Nalton as Nick Massi. Sandy Moffat will play the role of Frankie Valli at certain performances.

Jersey Boys, which tells the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, has now been seen by nearly 20 million people worldwide. A film version directed by Clint Eastwood is due to be released later this year.

The inaugural UK tour opens in September at Manchester's Palace Theatre.
