Rehearsal images have been released for Yerma at the Young Vic, starring Billie Piper and Brendan Cowell.

Piper will play the titular character whose inability to have children tears her life apart. Yerma is based on Federico García Lorca's 1934 play and is written and directed by Simon Stone – the Australian's first original work for the UK.

The cast also includes Maureen Beattie, John MacMillan, Charlotte Randle and Thalissa Teixeira.

The production will feature design by Lizzy Clachan, music and sound by Stefan Gregory, light by James Farncombe and costumes by Alice Babidge.

Yerma runs at the Young Vic from 4 August to 24 September, with previews from 28 July.
