Heathers The Musical has announced changes to its Off-Broadway cast at New World Stages in New York, where the production is currently extended until 25 January 2026.
The musical opened at the venue with the largest advance in its history, and has since broken the house record four times.
The role of Veronica Sawyer is set to welcome Kuhoo Verma, starting her run on Thursday, 11 December. Verma, known for the film Plan B and her Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk award-winning performance in the Off-Broadway production of Octet, takes over from Tony Award nominee Lorna Courtney, whose final performance is scheduled for Monday, 8 December, before she begins rehearsals for The Greatest Showman in the UK. Standby Sara Al-Bazali will play Veronica on Wednesday, 10 December.
McKenzie Kurtz (Heather Chandler) and Olivia Hardy (Heather Duke) are both taking temporary leaves of absence.
Kurtz will return to the production in mid-November. During her absence, Heather Chandler will be played by Jodie Steele, who originated the role in the West End production of Heathers. She joins the company for the evening performance on Saturday, 25 October.
Hardy will return in early December. Heather Duke will be played by Kiara Michelle Lee, a current Heathers ensemble member who plays Young Republicanette.
The company welcomes Thalia Atallah to the cast in the role of Young Republicanette starting Thursday, 6 November. This marks Atallah’s Off-Broadway debut.
Additionally, Kate Rockwell is playing Ms Fleming/Veronica’s Mom through Monday, 10 November. Original cast member Kerry Butler returns to this role on Wednesday, 12 November, following a brief leave of absence for a performance in Bat Boy The Musical at Encores!.
