Kiln Theatre has released a first look at the musical material from Maimuna Memon’s Manic Street Creature ahead of its run in North West London this March.
The footage features Memon performing a track from the gig theatre production, which is scheduled to play at the Kiln from 5 to 28 March with an opening night on 10 March.
The show follows Ria, a singer-songwriter recording her debut album following a move from Lancashire to London. The narrative tracks the development of the record while exploring themes of mental health and co-dependence. Memon, an Olivier Award winner, leads a company that includes returning performers Rachel Barnes and Harley Johnston, alongside newcomer Sam Beveridge.
Directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward, the production features a creative team including designer Libby Watson and lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun. The music is composed by Memon, with Tom Deering serving as music consultant.
