David Lindsay-Abaire’s play was also adapted into a film starring Nicole Kidman
The award-winning play Rabbit Hole is to receive its UK premiere at Hampstead Theatre in January 2016.
David Lindsay-Abaire's play first opened on Broadway in 2006 where it won the Pulitzer
Prize for Drama and was later adapted into a film starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckart.
The production, which charts the journey of grief and its antidotes through the tale of a family wrestling with a sudden loss, will be directed by Edward Hall.
Lindsay-Abaire returns to Hampstead following his 2014 sell-out comedy Good People which starred Imelda Staunton.
Rabbit Hole was originally planned to go into the Vaudeville Theatre in 2014 with Downton star Joanne Froggatt playing the lead but was cancelled due to a "late shift in schedules."
Casting for the Hampstead production is yet to be announced.
Rabbit Hole will run at Hampstead Theatre from 29 January to 5 March.
