The multimedia production by 1927 was recently seen at the Young Vic
Golem, the acclaimed multimedia show from 1927, is transferring to Trafalgar Studios following its recent run at the Young Vic.
The production, billed as a "visually arresting and satirical take on our misuse of technology", will play the venue from 22 April to 22 May (previews from 12 April) ahead of an international tour.
Golem follows the life of "extraordinarily ordinary" Robert Robertson, whose life is irrevocably disrupted when he buys a golem – a creature who will improve the efficiency of his daily affairs. But when Robert upgrades to superior model Golem 2, the show questions what happens when man is no longer in control of machine.
Directed and written by Suzanne Andrade, it features film, animation and design by Paul Barritt – who jointly won Best Designer at the 2014 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for the production. Music is by Lillian Henley and associate direction and design is by Esme Appleton.
The show will return to the UK with a run at Manchester's new HOME venue in October.
