Wonderful Town is on its way to Salford and this classic musical combines the talents of the Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lowry and the Halle Orchestra – along with West End stars – Connie Fisher and Michael Xavier. We caught up with director Braham Murray to find out his five reasons why you should go along.
2. The book and lyrics.
These two are in the same class as Guys and Dolls – in that the songs are as memorable and the book is vibrant and keeps going at a frantic pace.
3. It is a dancefest.
And all of this is superbly delivered by brilliant choreographer Andrew Wright fresh from his current West End smash Singin’ In The Rain.
4. A superb cast.
Not only do we have the charismatic Connie Fisher who delivered as Maria in The Sound of Music but also Michael Xavier who broke many a hit in the underrated Love Story in London.
5. New York, New York!
It spectacularly recreates that Wonderful Town – New York in Simon Higlett‘s set and costumes and binds the parts into a whole which shouts Life Force.
