The orchestra will reprise Alan Menken’s ”A Christmas Carol” after last year’s concert
London Musical Theatre Orchestra, the first professional orchestra dedicated to musical theatre, has announced its new season as it celebrates its second anniversary.
The group was founded in 2015 and has since performed public concerts of State Fair, A Christmas Carol and Honeymoon in Vegas with stars including Samantha Barks, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Emma Hatton and Celinde Schoenmaker.
The new season includes performances of Jerry Herman’s Mack and Mabel at Hackney Empire on 23 September, and a reprise of A Christmas Carol at the Lyceum Theatre on 11 and 18 December.
Herman's musical ran in the West End in 1995 and includes the songs "I Won't Send Roses", "I Wanna Make the World Laugh" and "Tap Your Troubles Away".
The orchestra performed Alan Menken's A Christmas Carol at the Lyceum last Christmas with a cast that featured Robert Lindsay, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Giovanna Fletcher, Hugh Maynard and Madalena Alberto.
LMTO's next concert will be a performance of Candide at Cadogan Hall starring Rob Houchen on 21 July.
Tickets for Mack and Mabel and A Christmas Carol will go on sale in July.
Candide will play Cadogan Hall on 21 July, Mack and Mabel will play Hackney Empire on 23 September, and A Christmas Carol will play the Lyceum Theatre on 11 and 18 December.
