Following success at the Lowry and the Manchester Opera House with West End star, Abigail Jaye playing the lead role, the musical Evita is back – this time, returning to Salford. Eva has also previously been played on the tour by
Louise Dearman and Rachael Wooding. Marti Pellow is set to play Che.
Featuring
some of the most famous and inspiring stage music ever written,
including the classic songs “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”, “On This
Night Of A Thousand Stars”, “Oh What A Circus”, “You Must Love Me” and
“Another Suitcase In Another Hall”, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd
Webber’s musical plays at the Lowry for the second time.
Bringing to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, Evita
tells the story from her young and ambitious beginnings to the enormous
wealth and power she gained and her ultimate rise to sainthood.
Evita has more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar-winning
film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and features one
of the most coveted roles in musical theatre.
Evita is at the Lowry from 29 July – 10 August
