Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles with Eileen Atkins is finally making its way to the stage.
The piece, which follows a teenager, Leo, who unexpectedly arrives at his grandmother’s Manhattan apartment, was named TIME‘s best play of 2012. It had been due to be staged at the Old Vic in 2020 with Atkins also attached alongside Timothée Chalamet (Dune) but the production was derailed by the pandemic’s onset.
The show will now appear as part of Chichester Festival Theatre’s 2023 season – which was announced today. No longer helmed by the Old Vic’s artistic director Matthew Warchus, Atkins will be joined by Richard Eyre in the director’s seat, while break-out Heartstopper star Sebastian Croft will play Leo.
BAFTA Breakthrough star Nell Barlow and Lesbian Sex Crime‘s Elizabeth Chu will also appear, while the show has set and costume design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by Peter Mumford, sound design by John Leonard, and casting by Ginny Schiller CDG.
It will run at Chichester Festival Theatre’s Minerva Theatre from 4 May to 10 June 2023, with general sale beginning on 4 March.
