The show opens in Glasgow next year

WhatsOnStage Award nominee Ed Larkin will lead Birds of Paradise’s (We indulge in) a bit of roll play, which premieres at Tramway in Glasgow early next year.
The disability-led company brings the production to the stage with Larkin, whose previous work includes The Little Big Things in the West End and Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers, as the lead performer.
Larkin, the first wheelchair user to lead a West End musical, plays Ben, a young disabled man managing life with his parents, university commitments and a relationship that is not always straightforward. The story follows him as he navigates private and public spaces and moves towards a more assertive understanding of his own desires.
The show plays from 19 to 21 February 2026, with a press performance on 20 February.
The script is by Hana Pascal Keegan, Gabriella Sloss and Birds of Paradise artistic director Robert Softley Gale. The creative team also includes designer Kat Radeva, lighting designer Simon Hayes, sound designer Chris Gorman, assistant director Emma Lynne Harley, associate artist Anne Kjær, sign language performers Jamie Rae and Yvonne Strain, intimacy coordinator Vanessa Coffey, production manager Grahame Coyle, production management consultant Gemma Swallow, stage manager Catherine Idle, producer Michelle Rolfe and collaborator and executive producer Mairi Taylor.
Birds of Paradise continue their focus on accessible theatre, with captions, BSL interpretation and audio description options available at every performance. Tickets are priced at £15 with concessions at £10. The production carries an 18 plus guidance notice.
