Charlie Cox, Blake Harrison and more to star in The King’s Ransom

The new play is about an attempt to steal the corpse of the King of Rock and Roll

Full casting has been confirmed for the world premiere of Stuart Slade’s The King’s Ransom.

The new play is a dark comedy about grief and redemption and follows small-time crook Vince Black, who assembles a team of misfits to attempt the heist of the century, which involves swiping the corpse of Elvis Presley for a million-dollar ransom.

Matthew Dunster will direct Charlie Cox (as Vince), Tom Fletcher (Charlie), Matthew Flynn (Mr Bluefield), Blake Harrison (Rusty), Leo Patrick (Jessie Lee), Jenny Rainsford (Rhonda / Jenny), Christopher Short (Elvis), Cherrelle Skeete (Mike), and Ronnie Yorke (Red), with the role of Martha played by Ruby Barker, Eira Kay and Trixie Willis.

The production runs from 5 December 2026 at the Donmar Warehouse until 6 February 2027. A press night is set for 16 December.

Joining Dunster on the creative team will be set designer Anna Fleischle, costume designer Jean Chan, lighting designer Sally Ferguson, sound designer Holly Khan, illusion designer Chris Cox, fight and intimacy directors Ruth Cooper-Brown and Rachel Bown-Williams of Rc-Annie, and casting director Lotte Hines.
