The final year of the West End run of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been announced.

The musical is currently booking until 7 January 2017 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. A Broadway production will open in 2016 and tickets for a UK tour will go on sale next year.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is David Greig's adaptation of Roald Dahl's book about a madcap sweet factory owner and a young boy called Charlie. It opened in June 2013 with Douglas Hodge as Willy Wonka and has played to over 1.8 million people.

Jonathan Slinger is currently playing Willy Wonka and will continue in the role alongside other principal cast members including Barry James, Ross Dawes and Josefina Gabrielle.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the play has music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory runs at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until 7 January 2017.
