Casting announced for Les Blancs and Cleansed at the National

Clive Francis and Michelle Terry will star in ”Cleansed” in February

Casting for the National Theatre's productions of Cleansed and Les Blancs have been announced.

Cleansed, which opens in the Dorfman Theatre from 23 February, is written by Sarah Kane and was her third play. Completed shortly before Kane's suicide in 1999, Katie Mitchell directs the production which will mark its National Theatre debut.

The play will star Graham Butler, Peter Hobday, Natalie Klamar, Tom Mothersdale, Matthew Tennyson and Michelle Terry.

Meanwhile, Yaël Farber directs Les Blancs in the Olivier Theatre from 30 March. Written by Lorraine Hansberry, the cast will include Sheila Atim, Gary Beadle, Elliot Cowan, James Fleet, Clive Francis, Tunji Kasim, Anna Madeley, Louis Mahoney, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Siân Phillips and Danny Sapani.

Staged eleven years after A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry's final drama is a search for the soul of post-colonial Africa.

The production will be designed by Soutra Gilmour with lighting by Tim Lutkin and movement by Imogen Knight.
