Trevor Nunn directs the classic Shakespeare play
Casting has been announced for Trevor Nunn's production of King John which opens at the Rose Theatre Kingston in May.
Jamie Ballard (The Merchant of Venice, Measure for Measure, RSC) will take the titular role of King John with Howard Charles (Blackta, Young Vic, Macbeth, RSC) as Philip the Bastard, Lisa Dillon (Hapgood, Hampstead Theatre, The Taming of the Shrew, RSC) as Constance and Maggie Steed (Richard III, Trafalgar Studios, Birthday Party, Royal Exchange Theatre) as Queen Eleanor.
The cast is completed by Ignatius Anthony (Austria/Bigot), Joe Bannister (Lewis The Dauphin), Burt Caesar (Pandolph), Tom Chapman (Robert Faulconbridge/Prince Henry), Elisabeth Hopper (Blanche), Stephen Kennedy (Hubert), Dominic Mafham (Salisbury), Chris Andrew Mellon (Citizen), Dale Rapley (Philip Of France) Miles Richardson (Pembroke), Carmen Rodriguez (Lady Faulconbridge), David Shelley (Chatillion/ Melun), Jon Tarcy (Messenger/Monk), Harry Marcus and Sebastian Croft (Prince Arthur).
The production will be the penultimate play in Nunn's undertaking to direct all 37 of Shakespeare's plays and also marks the Bard's 400th anniversary.

King John will run at the Rose Theatre Kingston from 18 May to 5 June.
