Chichester Festival Theatre and Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s revival will tour the UK from February 2016
Casting has been announced for a new touring production of Alan Bennett's Single Spies, which will open in Chichester in February 2016.
The cast will include Belinda Lang (The Glass Menagerie, 2point4 Children) as Coral Browne and the Queen, David Robb (Downton Abbey, Half the Picture) as Anthony Blunt and Nicholas Farrell (Torchwood, The Merchant of Venice) as Guy Burgess.
Single Spies, which premiered in 1988 at the National Theatre, consists of two plays which take a wry look at the comprised situation of Cambridge spies Guy Burgess and Anthony Blunt.
An Englishman Abroad follows exiled spy Burgess and his chance meeting with actress Coral Browne in Moscow, and A Question of Attribution, focuses on Soviet spy Anthony Blunt' relationship with the Queen.
Rachel Kavanaugh directs the production.
Single Spies runs in Chichester from 4 to 13 February, after which it will tour to Birmingham (17 to 27 February), Richmond (1 to 5 March), Canterbury (8 to 12 March), Newcastle (15 to 19 March), Oxford (21 to 26 March), Cheltenham (29 March to 2 April), Bath (4 to 9 April), Leeds (12 to 16 April), Salisbury (18 to 23 April) and Sheffield (26 to 30 April).
