Dave Harris’ new play has its world premiere later this spring

Casting has been announced for Tender, which will run at Soho Theatre as part of its current Main House season.
The play is set in a struggling strip club, where attendance has dropped and competition from a rival venue has increased. When the owner’s daughter arrives, she proposes a new direction for the business. The production will be staged with on-stage seating, placing audiences within the setting of the club.
Written by Dave Harris and directed by Matthew Xia, the production reunites the creative team behind the award-winning Tambo & Bones. The cast will include Darren Bennett, Dex Lee and Kwami Odoom as the Dancing Bears, with Jessie Mei Li as the daughter arriving to change everything.
The creative team includes Xia, designer Ultz, lighting designer Ciarán Cunningham, sound designer Roly Botha, and choreography and intimacy direction by Shelley Maxwell. Casting is by Heather Basten, with production management by Toby Smith for The Production Family. Mark Simmonds serves as associate designer, Maybelle Laye as associate costume designer, and Wiebke Green as assistant director.
Tender will run in the Main House at Soho Theatre from 24 April to 30 May, with a press night scheduled for 30 April.
