Cast for ”Robin Hood: The Legend. Re-written” at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre revealed

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has just announced their full cast and creative team for the forthcoming production of Robin Hood: The Legend. Re-written by former Kneehigh co-artistic director Carl Grose.

The show will run from 17 June to 22 July, with the press performance on 23 June at 7.45pm.

Directed by Melly Still, the cast includes Charlotte Beaumont as Little Joan, Nandi Bhebhe as The Balladeer/Jenny, Stephanie Marion Fayerman as Betty, Dave Fishley as Bob Much, Samuel Gosrani as Will Scatlocke, TJ Holmes as Brasswilt/Robin Hood, Paul Hunter as the King, Katherine Manners as Simpkins, Shaun Yusuf McKee as Brokebrick/Robin Hood, Alex Mugnaioni as Baldwyn, Simon Oskarsson as Boneweather/Robin Hood, Ellen Robertson as Marian, Dumile Sibanda as Woodnut, Ira Mandela Siobhan as Gisburne, Elexi Walker as Mary Tuck, and musicians Amena Alicia El-Kindy, Taya Ming, and Marta Miranda.

The creative team also includes Mike Ashcroft as movement director, John Bulleid as illusion designer, Joley Cragg as musical director, Poppy Franziska as associate director, Polly Jerrold as casting director, Emma Laxton as sound designer, Ingrid Mackinnon as season intimacy coordinator, Jenny Moore as composer and musical supervisor, Jeannette Nelson as voice and text director, Deirdre O’Halloran as dramaturg, Zoe Spurr as lighting designer, Chiara Stephenson as set designer, and Samuel Wyer as costume designer.

This new take on the classic tale is set in a divided kingdom where only the truly cunning can outwit the sheriff’s terrifying wrath.

In addition to Robin Hood, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2023 season includes Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s musical Once On This Island (which begins performances tonight), directed by Ola Ince, and Ben Okri’s Every Leaf A Hallelujah (22 May to 10 June), adapted and directed by Chinonyerem Odimba for ages four plus and their families, performed on the Theatre Lawn.

Also featuring are The Tempest re-imagined for everyone aged six and over (30 June to 22 July), revised and directed by Jennifer Tang in a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre. Musical La Cage aux Folles (29 July to 16 September), directed by artistic director Timothy Sheader with a book by Harvey Fierstein, music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, and based on the play by Jean Poiret will be the venue’s second musical revival of the year. Finally, Nicoll Entertainment’s Dinosaur World Live (11 August to 3 September) returns to the Open Air Theatre, written and directed by Derek Bond.
