During our recent visits to the rehearsal room, we sat down with representatives from two currently running Off-West End productions – The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs and This Bitter Earth.

We asked the cast members, as well as This Bitter Earth director Billy Porter and playwright Harrison David Rivers, to share their thoughts on what Pride means to them, and now, as Pride month comes to an end, we’d like to take this opportunity to share their candid responses with you.

Watch The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs cast members Fanta Barrie (who plays Ellie), Olivier Award winner Liz Carr (Fi), Zak Ghazi-Torbati (The Men), Leah Harvey (Lori), Georgie Henley (Ana), and Serena Manteghi (Dina) in the video below:

And you can see Porter, Rivers and This Bitter Earth cast members Omari Douglas (who plays Jesse) and Alexander Lincoln (Neil) and listen to their responses here:

The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs, written by Iman Qureshi and directed by Hannah Hauer-King, continues its run at the Kiln Theatre until 12 July. The play follows a lesbian choir striving for a place on the Pride mainstage and you can find out more about the new production below:

This Bitter Earth, running until 26 July at the Soho Theatre, tells the story of a young Black writer and his white activist lover and asks: “What is the real cost of standing on the sidelines?” Find out more about the drama here:
