Battersea Arts Centre to stage immersive Beowulf in new season

Battersea Arts Centre is to host a new immersive production of Beowulf as part of the venue's spring 2018 programme.

Seth Kriebel's new work sees the audience immersed in the world of the ancient poem and able to choose which direction the show takes. Each night, depending on the audience's choices, will therefore be different. The piece runs from 22 to 24 March and features an atmospheric soundscape to accompany the plot of the viking hero and his adventures. Kriebel's previous shows include The Unbuilt Room and A House Repeated.

Elsewhere in the season, the theatre hosts the London premiere of The Shape of the Pain from Rachel Bagshaw and Chris Thorpe, which was a hit at this year's Edinburgh festival. Breach Theatre's documentary film and devised theatre piece The Drill will also run between 5 and 17 February. The company's previous works include The Beanfield and Tank.

Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas's Palmyra also runs at Battersea Arts Centre ahead of a run at Shoreditch Town Hall.

The venue's Christmas season this year includes RashDash's first family show Snow White & Rose Red and Sponge by Turned on its Head.
