Andrew Lippa’s musical makes its UK premiere with the new production at the Southbank Centre
Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family) brings new musical A Little Princess, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic childhood novel, comes to the UK for the first time with a one-off performance at the Royal Festival Hall.
Starring Danny Mac (Sunset Boulevard), Amanda Abbington (Sherlock, making her musical debut) alongside Rebecca Trehearn (Showboat), Alexia Khadime (Wicked) and Adam J Bernard (Dreamgirls), the piece follows a young girl who is sent from her home in Africa to a boarding school in the UK. It will be performed as a concert performance, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Playing the child roles in the show will be Jasmine Sakyiama, Jasmine Nituan, Madeline Banbury, Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Sophia Beswick, Olivia Cowley, Tia Figgett, Andie Jordan, Agatha Meehan, Natasha Raphael and Kate Woodman.
The show is directed by Arlene Phillips, and has book and lyrics by Brian Crawley and runs on 28 May for one night only. It has lighting design by Nic Farman, costume and projection design by PJ McEvoy, musical direction by Alan Berry and musical supervision by Alan Williams. Casting is by Keston and Keston.
