This year’s pantomime at the Cambridge Arts Theatre is Aladdin, running between 9 December and 16 January. As for previous in-house pantomime productions at the theatre, open auditions for child performers are being held for the 20 boys and girls between the ages of six and 23 who will be needed.

Auditions and workshops will be held at the Arts Theatre on Sunday 12 September with call-backs scheduled for the following Sunday. A £5 workshop fee is payable on registration (through the theatre’s box office or the show manager Jess Woodward). Participants will not only have the chance of showcasing their skills but the opportunity to learn new dance routines.

Judging by interest shown in previous years, around 200 hopeful youngsters will be hoping to take part. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so – if you haven’t already done so – now and not tomorrow is the time to apply.
