Casey Nicholaw’s world premiere production of 50 First Dates The Musical has celebrated its press night in London (and was warmly received by our critic in a glowing review).

WhatsOnStage was on hand at the Other Palace to greet the busy director-choreographer and his leading cast members, Georgina Castle (who takes on the role of Lucy Whitmore, made famous in the original 2004 movie by Drew Barrymore) and Josh St Clair (who plays Henry Roth, immortalised on screen by Adam Sandler), right after the curtain call.

Written by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, 50 First Dates follows Henry and Lucy as they fall in love, and he realises she suffers from short-term memory loss.

The London cast also includes Georgia Arron (Mean Girls) as Sharon/ensemble/cover Lucy, Aizaac Aruna (Stardust) as Miles/ensemble, Zoë Ann Bown (The Sound Of Music) as Miriam/ensemble, Emily Olive Boyd (Les Misérables) as Fran/ensemble, Greg Stylianou Burns (The Lightning Thief) as ensemble/cover Henry, Cole Dunn (Kinky Boots) as swing, Samuelle Durojaiye (The Buddy Holly Story) as swing, Paul Kemble (Cry-Baby the Musical) as swing, John Marquez as Marlin Whitmore, Natasha O’Brien (Starter for Ten) as Delilah/ensemble, Aiesha Naomi Pease as Ukulele Sue, David Pendlebury (The Phantom Of The Opera) as Sid/ensemble, Martha Pothen as Cora/ensemble, Ricky Rojas as Marco, Chad Saint Louis as Sandy, Samantha Thomas (Les Misérables) as swing, and Charlie Toland as Doug Whitmore.

The musical’s creative team includes set and costume designer Fly Davis, lighting designer Aideen Malone, video designer George Reeve, and sound designer Adam Fisher. Hair and makeup design is by Cynthia De La Rosa, orchestrations and arrangements are by Matthew Jackson and the musical supervision and musical director is Richard Beadle. The casting director is Natalie Gallacher for Natalie Gallacher and Pippa Ailion Casting. It is produced by ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live and Gavin Kalin Productions.

50 First Dates runs at the Other Palace until 16 November 2025, with tickets on sale below.
