The Young Vic has announced a new season of work across all three of its stages.

The season, entitled 'Horizons', will feature a series of performances and films throughout 2016-17 as well as its community engagement programme, Taking Part.

Productions in the Horizons season include the previously announced Queens of Syria – an all-female cast of Syrian refugees performing a new version of The Trojan Women, a new play about LGBTI refugees called Now We Are Here and directed by Ian Rickson from 20 – 30 July, and Isango Ensemble’s A Man of Good Hope based on Jonny Steinberg's book about a Somalian refugee which runs from 6 October – 12 November.

Young Vic Taking Part will partner with the British Museum to present a project with young refugees which will be performed during Refugee Week (24 and 25 June).

Artistic director David Lan said: "Horizons is the Young Vic’s response to the world as it is now. People in distress need help and they need to be heard. We want to provide a powerful means for audiences at home and abroad to connect with the political, social and human realities refugees face. These are the central stories of our age.

"We are delighted to welcome Good Chance [Theatre]… as an associate company, and to be able to support the inspirational work of the Joes and their team."
