What's in my dressing room? – Sean Delaney

Sean Delaney graduated from RADA last year and made his professional debut at Hampstead Theatre in Rabbit Hole. He has previously appeared in TV's Midsomer Murders and his credits while at drama school include Measure for Measure and Chicken Soup with Barley. He plays John in Beth Steel's new play Labyrinth which opened at Hampstead Theatre this week.

He took us backstage at the theatre to show us what he keeps in his dressing room.

The Book

SD: "Once I’d been cast in Labyrinth, I had a long chat with writer Beth Steel, about all aspects of the script and the character I’d be playing. She told me that she kept a copy of American Psycho on her desk while writing the play, and it’s been a really great source of inspiration for the lifestyle and attitude of a Wall Street banker in the '70s and '80s."

The Script

SD: "Due to the nature of previews, Beth and Anna Ledwich (our fantastic director) are making changes daily so it’s still vital to keep close to hand!"

Drinking Apparatus

SD: "Because sometimes you need a little bit of home in the dressing room. I’m a born and bred Fulham fan, and this is from the first year I was an F.F.C season ticket holder."

The Furry Friend

SD: "Dennis Hall (the dog owned by Edward Hall, the artistic director of Hampstead Theatre) and me go way back – Ed directed Rabbit Hole, which was my professional debut, at Hampstead earlier this year. Dennis was a regular in the rehearsal room, and still pays me the occasional visit now I’m back."

Cast Buddies

SD: "I share a dressing room with seven of my cast mates, so it’s a fairly lively and loud place to be. There’s always music of some description playing, and at the moment we’re favouring the Labyrinth '80s playlist we all contributed tracks to (you can listen to it here)."
