Tomorrow the West End will cry “Ready. Set. Bake!” as the hotly anticipated transfer of The Great British Bake Off Musical begins performances at the Noël Coward Theatre.

Set to play a limited engagement through to 13 May, the piece’s world premiere run in Cheltenham received a hearty reveiw from WhatsOnStage and no less than four nominations at the 23rd Annual WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical and Best Regional Production.

We recently sat down with WOSAward nominees John Owen-Jones (who plays judge Phil Hollinghurst) and Aharon Rayner (contestant Hassan), alongside new addition to the cast Grace Mouat (contestant Izzy), to challenge them not to bake us a tasty treat, but to tell us all about the show in just 60 seconds!

Check out the video below:

Joining Owen-Jones, Mouat and Rayner in the West End cast are Haydn Gwynne, Zoe Birkett, Scott Paige, Claire Moore, Cat Sandison, Charlotte Wakefield, Damian Humbley, Jay Saighal, Michael Cahill, Louis Gaudencio, Gabriella Stylianou, Annette Yeo, Georgie Westall, Stuart Hickey and Jamil Abbasi. Aanya Shah, Amelie Rouse and Maisy Mein share the child role of Lily.

Based on the seminal TV series that pits aspiring bakers against one another across a series of culinary challenges, the musical is penned by Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary.

The creative team includes director Rachel Kavanaugh, choreographer Georgina Lamb, set, costume and cake designer Alice Power, lighting designer Ben Cracknell, sound designer Ben Harrison, orchestrator Tom Curran, musical supervisor Mark Collins, assistant musical director Chris Poon and casting director Jim Arnold.
