Cast announced for Globe's Heresy of Love

Full casting has been announced for The Heresy of Love at Shakespeare's Globe, directed by John Dove.

Naomi Frederick (Much Ado About Nothing, The Winslow Boy, Brief Encounter) will play Sor Juana, Anthony Howell (Julius Caesar, Anne Boleyn, Foyle’s War) will play Bishop Santa Cruz and Gabrielle Lloyd (Richard III, Untold Stories, Lewis) will play Madre Marguerita.

Joining them will be Patrick Driver, Gwyneth Keyworth, William Mannering, Sophia Nomvete, Rhiannon Oliver, Ellie Piercy, Susan Porrett, Gary Shelford and Philip Whitchurch.

Following the life of Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz, the seventeenth-century Mexican nun and author, The Heresy of Love explores questions about faith, fundamentalism and freedom. It premiered at the RSC in 2012.

The Heresy of Love runs at Shakespeare's Globe from 31 July to 5 September.
