Rachel O'Riordan announces final season at Sherman Theatre

This will be her last season before she heads up the Lyric Hammersmith

Rachel O'Riordan has announced her final season at Sherman Theatre.

Riordan, who took over running the venue in 2014, will begin as artistic director at Lyric Hammersmith in February 2019.

In Cardiff, Woof by Welsh Elgan Rhys will be directed by Gethin Evans from 31 January to 9 February. The Welsh language play explores the dark, secret side of gay culture in the city.

Jo Clifford's new work responding to The Taming of the Shrew will be staged in a co-production with Glasgow's Tron Theatre Company and will run from 28 February to 16 March. The piece will be directed by Michael Fentiman.

In May, Katherine Chandler's piece Lose Yourself will run, directed by Patricia Logue. Set in a world of lower league football, poverty and lack of opportunity, the play looks at rape culture in football, the objectification of young women, and the commodification of talent.

A new Basque bilingual piece from PowderHouse will run between 1 and 4 May. Saethu Cwningod / Shooting Rabbits and is performed in Welsh, English, Spanish and Basque. Jacob Hodgkinson has also written Between Eternity and Time, the fourth co-production with RWCMD's NEW project and will have Hannah Noone directing.

Elsewhere, Cardiff's Spilt Milk Theatre comes to Sherman with Five Green Bottles (9 to 13 April), Hijinx Theatre's Into The Light runs 14 to 16 Feb, Frân Wen stage Anweledig (12 and 13 March) and National Dance Company Wales present a mixed bill programme entitled Awakening (1 and 2 May).
